Here's the first "video" of the new WRX concept. Obviously, it's a rendering but it still looks great:

The Daily Shot - March 10, 2011
Welcome to the The Daily Shot. This is where we post original pictures taken at track days, races, or just the daily drive around town. Today's picture is of Scotto's Subaru WRX running away from a couple of Porsche's on the Thunderbolt Track of NJMP.

The WRX is mostly stock minus a suspension and boost tweak, and considering it was ran on all-season tires it did extremely well holding off even the likes of a 996 Turbo. Good old fashion hoonery at it's finest.
If you like any of these shots feel free to drop us a line at: TheDailyHoon@gmail.com . Happy hooning.

We Get a GoPro
One of the tools needed to succesfully document our trip out West and all subsequent rallying, racing, and general hoonery is a good video camera. Today we got a GoPro with all the associated Auto mounts.
There's nothing special or really all that Hoonish about this video, but let it be known and for everyone to beware... we're on the prowl now, and we'll have video to prove it...

Countdown to Dirt Fish Rally School - Entry #2
Welcome to our second update on our ongoing journey to Rally School in Seattle, WA. For a little bit of background, check out our Welcome Page and then read our first countdown post; Dirtfish 101. As the countdown slowly continues, we are of course planning on making this a huge deal, because to us it is exactly that...
As of today Scotto has picked up a GoPro video camera and a big memory card to chronicle the whole trip and to add to our growing list of Hoon related videos.
Last week we purchased our flights out West, and will be departing in the early morning of March 15th, as the sun rises over the great state of Pennsylvania we'll be on board a flight to beautiful Cincinnati! A short layover then off to "The Evergreen State" landing in SEA-TAC.

Not long after this we will have roughly 3 hours or so of daylight (fingers crossed it isn't raining) to look over the car and make final adjustments.
Every road-trip starts with proper maintenance which means we're going to give the 'Lude a quick and dirty wrench and lube job; we'll also be tuning her up to make sure she is ready for whatever the 2,932 miles of America can throw our way.
We will be on our way to DirtFish early on the morning of the 16th for our 8am session of white knuckled, opposite locked, power sliding, super doriftoing in the DirtFish STi's.
Between now and then we'll post some more background on the 1989 Prelude Si The 'Lude (which will be our future LeMons car), DirtFish Rally school, and our plans for the trip back. If anyone has any recommendations for great places to drive between Seattle, and New Jersey please send us a message, or notes of encouragement at: TheDailyHoon@gmail.com
Thanks for following our progress, as always: Happy Hooning everyone!

Canada...eh?
Canada; represented by good natured people, happiness, universal healthcare, and really just off putting advertising. The latest set of commercials from our good friends at Subaru Canada, have a couple new ads up. The "Sexy is Standard" on the Forester, is an interesting ad in my opinion, but I don't get it... I laughed, I cried, I had to at points look away... But yeah, still don't get it.
To me this shows the vast differences in marketing a northern border will create. I won't buy a Forester, but not because of that commercial, but because I'm going to buy an STi. I'll probably never understand those commercials, but keep making them, cause I'll keep watching.
I then watched the STi commercial SoC put up as well... SoA has Mirra sliding around under an overpass, and the far North version has a black and white cartoon of some transformer like alien attacking a similarly drawn car, which drives around unrealistically then it shows some "stig" looking character driving a real one then thats it, kind of... at least it looks cool in real life. And I don't get it...

Countdown to DirtFish Rally School - One Month

A few weeks ago Scotto was quick enough to spot a Groupon ad in Seattle for the DirtFish Rally School. We immediately jumped on the chance to get a 1/2 day rally lesson for 1/2 price (Normally $650, only $325 thanks to Groupon). This trip to Seattle was tentatively planned for months, but a hard date was never set. The second leg of the trip will be a cross country drive back to New Jersey with a 1989 Honda Prelude Si donor car. We're saving the story of the Prelude for another day, but for now check out more info on Dirt Fish on their website or like them on Facebook.
They were also recently featured in Wired. Our friends over on Jalopnik also picked up the Wired article and syndicated it this morning, be sure to read the comment section they are always fun filled and informative and if you're lucky will include some lolcats.
We'll be posting more about our trip out West as mid March approaches, but for now, enjoy the Intro video to DirtFish:

The Daily Shot - February 17, 2011
Welcome to the fifth edition of The Daily Shot. This is where we post original pictures taken at track days, races, or just the daily drive around town.
Today's picture comes from a track day at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ. Here we have Scotto's WRX....
NJMP is great for a lot of things. It's relatively new (Built in '08), has a fun layout and really allows freedom throughout all the paddocks. The garages are on a first come/ first quick repair need basis, so watch out if the Volk wheel'd Sparco seat neon underbody kit M3 crew sets up shop and likes to hang out and look at their cars under a roof in there.

Lets get rolling

While on track I felt every sensation that I think I could while being on all-season tires in a car I was ready to baby... A friend and myself made a bet a few weeks before I went and when questioned if my car could handle a full on all-out lap of the 2.25 mile circuit, the suggestion he made was 1 lap...maybe.
Well with an instructor in the passenger seat, windows down, nervous as can be, set out to my first 25min session. 3 turns in my instructor says to pit in and let him show me what to do. I obliged, pride was the least of my issues as I may have failed to mention but I was in by far the most "affordable" car on track, while the others were in the likes of Boxster S's and Cayman's and a few 996's one being a turbo. After less than 2 minutes of somewhat praise about how well my car worked from the instructor and being flogged around feeling like my car would roll by every apex, he pitted in and gave me another shot.
From that moment on the fear, nerves and hesitation I had on the first lap went out, I decided that it was just a car, it was MY car, but it was nothing more than an extension of myself and i had to push it. Being "in the zone" was an understatement, I knew nothing outside of the music that was keeping the tires on their edge of grip and the engine at its peak but being aware that over-revving an engine this old and beat up that would have broke it real quick.
After the first 25min ended we all pulled back in to the pits and it all hit me, my body was shaking violently and i couldn't formulate a coherent sentence let alone speak. It was November 6th, 2010, 8:00am, under 40degrees and I found my dream...my calling...my passion.
