LeMons/Rally Roadtrip, 4.2 The End...

We just made it back with the Prelude in one piece to Ocean City, NJ. It's time to go to sleep. See you soon...

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 4.1 - 100 Miles Left

The night darkness of central Pennsylvania has become a bright sunny morning just East of Philadelphia. We stopped for about an hour around 4 this morning and switched drivers a few times. The Prelude  was getting babied since the Ohio/Pennsylvania border when we noticed a small oil leak, we surmise that it's transmission fluid. Thank God for AAA+ coverage because now that we are within 100 miles of Ocean City the the throttle has been opened and we are hooning straight to the finish. Huzzah!

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 3.5 - It's All A Blur

The road goes on and on and on...we have slept a total of 8 hours since Wednesday morning at 530am in Seattle. Most road signs and scenery has become a blur to us as the day shifted to night. Scotto and I switch off driving about every 250miles or so. The Prelude continues to run strong, Ocean City is 430miles away as I type this at 11:40 Friday night. We drive on in to the night...because racecar.

LeMons/Rally Roadrip, 3.4 Drafting

Scotto just slipped in this truck's draft for a few miles, go go go racecar.

LeMons/Rally Roadtrip, 3.3 - Indiana

We are past Chicago and in to Indiana, stopping now at the Knut Rockne service area. .. .. ..  Racecar.

LeMons/Rally Roadtrip, 3.2 - Route 80

Our trip continues Eastbound from Iowa and across the Mississippi river as we travel on to friendly I-80. We stopped across the border of Iowa to take a quick 2 hour nap this morning around 4am. So far so good.

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 3.1 - Ferrari Friday

Our favorite day of the week - Ferrari Friday. While we are thoroughly enjoying our long trip across country in the 1989 Honda Prelude we would be remiss without taking this time to make it clear that we would much rather be doing this trip in a car such as that pictured above, a Ferrari 599. The GTO would be nice, but we would take a GTB HGTE if we had to. When that day comes we will surely document just as we are the LeMons Prelude.  Have a great Ferrari Friday....our journey continues.

The Daily Shot - March 18, 2011

Welcome to the The Daily Shot. This is where we post original pictures taken at track days, races, or just the daily drive around town. Today's picture features is of a Ferrari F430's driver side mirror. The little details like this make Ferrari's stand out amongst the ranks of super cars.

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 2.4 - The Night Cap

It's currently Midnight in the Central timezone and we are just passing mile marker 281 on I-90 in South Dakota; about 119 miles from Sioux City. The above picture was taken this afternoon at a rest stop in Montana because I'm a sucker for a good lens flare. The Prelude is getting about 32-33 Miles Per Gallon thus far while running an average speed of 64.2 (according to the Garmin GPS). South Dakota has given us great cell phone coverage which facilitated our recent posts. About half way through the trip we have over 400 photos to sort through and 15 GBs of GoPro video recorded. We are holding off on uploading videos to conserve our bandwidth usage.

Our plan right now is to continue to drive in to the dark night of South Dakota while we still feel awake and coherent. Surprisingly, after 13 plus hours of driving today there hasn't been much fatigue on either of our parts. For now, enjoy some more pictures of our trip while I edit through some more:

Goodnight, and thanks for following us - send us your thoughts in the comments, by email, or on twitter.

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 2.3 - Mt. Rushmore

The Prelude has made it to Mt. Rushmore and we snapped a few quick photographs. After seeing the monument in person only one thing came to mind:

It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be.

The road trip continues....

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 2.2 - Because Racecar

Why are we doing this trip? Because racecar. Email us: TheDailyHoon@gmail.com or on twitter: @TheDailyHoon

Happy hooning!!

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 2.1

We are now about 60 Miles from Mount Rushmore and have been making quick time of the trip. The cell phone coverage has been nonexistent for the past 3 hours driving through Montana and Wyoming. The Prelude has been holding up marvelously at cruising speeds of 75-80 MPH. The roads are incredibly straight and flat and it's a shame that they now have speed limits.

Last night we drove until 4 AM where we stopped in Livingston, WY after driving through 2 snowstorms. We woke up to this scene at 10 this morning, and got on the road around 10:45. The spotty 3G coverage is hampering our efforts to stay connected throughout the entire trip. I hope you're enjoying reading up on our journey. More posts to come..

The Daily Shot - March 17, 2011

Welcome to the The Daily Shot. This is where we post original pictures taken at track days, races, or just the daily drive around town. Today's picture features  two blue beauties, a WRX STi and a VW Golf R32, parked outside of the Dirtfish Rally School. They are indeed a bunch of hoons.

LeMons/Rally Roadtrip, 1.4

So not only are we driving through the night with no one on the road in the middle of nowhere Montana....but now....the Prelude decided to start making random beeping noises at us:

Thankfully Scotto managed to use a Leatherman to pull out the random speaker located above the rearview mirror that was terrorizing us with it's incessant beeping.

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 1.3

Greetings friends! Let's see, it is currently 1:20AM Mountain Time and we've been on the road now for a little over 10 hours, which means we are a little less than a quarter of the way back to New Jersey. The GPS screenshot above was taken as we departed Dirtfish Rally this afternoon. The Prelude has been running strong through the mountains of Washington, Idaho, and Montana; we experienced a bit of snow flurries and wet roads in the mountains but nothing we can't handle. The wintery mix comes and goes, but with no cars on the roads we're not too worried.

The Prelude has been getting about 31 MPG while running an average speed of about 70 MPH, as I've continued to write this update the snow has started to come down a bit harder and there's a slight dusting on the road. We have found that the Prelude's steering tends to pull to the left a bit  - it's clearly tuned for NASCAR.
We'll be back up later tonight...more to come...

*UPDATE* 1:56 AM - We just climbed and crossed the Continental Divide in the middle of a snowstorm. About 500 foot visibility, I'm not entirely sure I'm not a dermatologist, or something. We were going at most 25 MPH with about an inch of snow on the ground with a 6% grade - oh, with S turns - and double trailer trucks passing us on the downhills. Fun stuff! Thankfully, we did what any hoon would do, dab the oppo on the downhill and drift around the turns. Actually, no we needed to make sure the car made it through unscathed which thankfully it did. After 3 Red Bulls each and the snowstorm we are feeling good and ready to roll out some more miles. Check in later when the sunrises...

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 1.2

We have successfully completed our 1/2 day rally session at The Dirt Fish Rally school. It was an incredible experience and something we recommend everyone to try. After our four hour session we had lunch and then came back to the school for a tour of the shop and the entire facility. The folks at Dirt Fish were a world class bunch, extremely welcoming and amazing hosts. While we sort through our hundreds of photos and 10 GB of video footage on the trip back home enjoy the first few shots here:

The Prelude arrives, parking next to an e30 M3 we know we were amongst hoons.
Colin McRae's Ford Focus WRC car greets you in the lobby of DirtFish.

That's it for now. The batteries need to recharge on the MacBook Pro. Tonight we'll add another update on our progress back East. So far the Prelude is driving like a champ and we're making great time - just outside of Spokane. Don't forget to follow us on twitter at: @TheDailyHoon . Cheers, and happy hooning.

LeMons/Rally Road Trip, 1.1

We're currently on WA-18 headed to Interstate 90-E on the way to Dirtfish Rally School. We just passed Tiger Summit with a slight elevation of 1,377.
As you can see above, we have both of our cellphones tethered to my Macbook Pro which will provide us to continue with live coverage of the journey. Please leave some comments for us, or live chat with us on twitter during the show.

Dirtfish Rally School - The Night Before

Greetings from Seattle, Washington. Scotto and I arrived today around 12:00 local time after a flight from Philadelphia at 6:30 AM through Cincinnati. We were greeted by overcast skies with the threat of rain. Upon arrival we had to complete phase 1 of  our cross country road trip: obtain the Prelude 24 Hours of LeMons donor. We boarded a shuttle bus to the Seattle suburb of Port Orchard where the beauty was waiting for us. The car is in good mechanical condition and should be able to make the 3,000 mile journey with no hitches; our plan is to blog about the trip the entire way back - make sure to keep checking up on us over the next few days to track our progress. Check out some shots of the Prelude:
Engine Bay looks good.
A little upskirt action

Rotating the tires.

Dat ass
Supplies from WalMart - only the essentials

With the preparation for the journey back East complete, we move on to Phase 2: Our 1/2 day of rally school at Dirtfish Rally tomorrow morning. Following phase 2, we travel back East in phase 3. Wednesday afternoon we'll upload some photos and videos of our rally experience. Good night from Seattle, and as always happy hooning.
