Ferrari Friday Flickr

You can spend hours on Flickr trying to find amazing photos. We've done some of the work for you in today's "Ferrari Friday Flickr". This edition of the FFF features a red F430 Scuderia from Stephan Bauer Photography, click here for more.

Ferrari Friday + Fail Friday = Mansory Siracusa

As many of you know the Geneva Motor Show took place this week. One of the cars which made its debut was the Mansory Siracusa, which is a tuned Ferrari 458. The idea of a tuned Ferrari 458 sounds awesome, unfortunately the work that Mansory did is legendarily awful. The Gemballa Enzo Mig thing was bad, the Mansory 599 Sylvester Stallone was worse, then there is this... It is quite possibly the most disgusting looking car ever designed. We never thought something so beautiful could be ruined so badly. Take a look:

One Lap, Ferrari Friday Edition

With our weekly edition of Ferrari Friday here we're going to the North Loop to bring you this one lap with the 599XX. Nothing like 'ringing' out that V-12 on Germany's famous 12+ mile road-course.

Sit back and enjoy the less than 7 minutes of high speed action from the cockpit with pure sound...

Driving Lessons - Colin McRae Edition

One of the things we are trying to do here at The Daily Hoon is to centrally locate great videos, pictures, and stories found around the internet. Instead of Googling or searching YouTube for certain things, we do it for you and present it here. Scotto thought it would be a good idea to show off some driving techniques as described by the experts.

Our video today features the late, great, Colin McRae. We all know he was arguably one of the greatest drivers of all time, and probably the greatest Rally driver of all time. Regardless of your opinion on rallying, you have to admire the incredible level of car control he possessed. In the seven minute video below Colin describes basic Rally techniques while performing them. The precision displayed in these demonstrations is incredible. As they say, "watch and learn":

In the Spirit of Rally

Since we're gearing up for some sweet Rally Action with the folks from Dirtfish in WA, here at TDH, we've been learning techniques and skills the way any of us with no experience or time or money do... YouTube!

Later today we'll have some professional guidance from a rally great, but before you learn from an actual teacher, take some time to enjoy The Daily Hoon's daily Dab of Oppo.

We don't discriminate here at the Hoon, and The Ultimate Driving Machine needs no introduction on our site, and to see it in some rallying is just awesome... Feast your eyes and enjoy.

Top Gear: The Stig Alarm Clock in Action

Yesterday when I came home from work I was pleasantly surprised to find a package from the BBC in my mailbox. Low and behold, The Stig alarm clock had arrived! As noted in our previous post, I was lucky enough to win this alarm clock from BBC America after answering a question about #myfirstcar. Our winning entry can be found here. Search twitter for #myfirstcar to see some other entries.

For those who are interested, I captured a quick video of the clock in action. It's an awesome piece on any desk; the coolest thing is that the alarm sound is the Top Gear theme song. Have a listen:

As always, feel free to drop us a line at TheDailyHoon@gmail.com . Happy hooning everyone.

Countdown To Dirtfish Rally School - Entry #3

Welcome to the third update on our ongoing journey to Rally School in Seattle, WA. For a little bit of background, check out our Welcome Page and then read our first countdown post; Dirtfish 101, then our second countdown post here.

This week Scotto received the title for the Prelude which means we're now in the process of registering it and getting some basic insurance for the drive back. The Prelude is going to a local shop in Seattle this week for a quick oil change and tune up before our arrival. That way we'll hopefully only have to do some minor work on it to make sure it's ready for the 3,000 mile journey back East.

As I'm sure you are all aware the racing season is well underway. Watching clips from the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood have definitely helped to stoke the fires of our rally passion. Unfortunately for the Subaru Rally Team, they finished second and third to the Mitsubishi Evo X of Antoine L'Estage who won by over 17 seconds. The boys in the Subaru's better pick it up at the next event. We know the Dirtfish WRX's are ready for the hooning we're going to throw their way - we can't wait.

We're looking to make the trip back East in as little time as possible, right now we're looking to stop at Mount Rushmore to get some glory shots of the Prelude in front of some sweet Americana. If anyone has any recommendations for great places to drive between Seattle and New Jersey please send us a message, or notes of encouragement to: TheDailyHoon@gmail.com

Oh, and if you didn't see it yesterday, check out my post on the British Drift Championship, the footage inspires me, it's beautiful.

More updates coming soon...thanks for following our progress.

The Greatest Drift Video Ever

There are some movies, photos, videos and clips that are iconic, and as awe inspiring and incredible the hundredth time you've seen them as the first time. This five minute video on the 2010 British Drift Championship is just that. I've watched this video countless times and every time I watch it it gives me chills. This is a transcendent video that goes beyond just showing drifting footage but somehow manages to capture the emotion of the spectators, the racers, the crew, and everyone at the track.
Just watch it, and enjoy (NSFW note, there is an F bomb dropped in the first minute and a half):

The Craigslist Find Of The Week

Once a week we'll find a fun, unique, or cringe worthy craigslist car/truck ad and highlight here. Please feel free to submit any ideas you have to TheDailyHoon@gmail.com .

Today we find a cringeworthy Ferrari that is so distastefully modified it isn't worthy of being featured on Ferrari Friday. According to the seller it has a manual AND automatic transmission. Clearly he didn't read up on his F1 transmission and assumes people looking to buy this have possibly less of a clue than he had. O_o. The custom wheels, while possibly appealing to those looking for form not function are really just disturbing to say the least, the spraypaint work is tacky, and the custom interior work is tragically bad. Why even get the Daytona seats if they're not going to be used? We're not going to get political on this blog, but this is an abortion:
"Welcome and thank you for viewing our 2005 Ferrari F430 Spyder. This special and one of a kind F430 is loaded with all the options as well as some custom work as well. Most of the black pieces on the body were sprayed to match the color of the car. Custom built and designed wheels were specially made for this 430. The front was lowered a little and also has an exhaust system that sounds amazing. Car also has navigation and sub. Some of the other options include red calipers, shields, special order Daytona seats and much much more."

Sunday Drive - Nürburgring Edition

Sunday, the day of rest, relaxation, and racing. With the Formula 1 season on the horizon, the NASCAR season entering it's second week, and our local race tracks opening up within the next few weeks (in the Northeast at least) we thought it would be a nice idea to post some classic racing footage on Sundays.

Last week we featured Ten Minutes at Tsukaba, today we feature a Nürburgring lap run of the Radical SR8 from 2005. At the time, this lap set the record for a production vehicle with a blistering 6 minute, 55 second run around the Green Hell. The car is driven by Michael Vergers, who later, in 2009 bested his time with a 6 minute 48 second run in the updated SR8 LM. We'll feature many of the record lap times on future Sunday Drives, but for today enjoy the classic lap from 2005:
